What you’ll do

Looking to mix up your menu while social distancing? Skip the delivery and make pizza as a group from the comfort of your own kitchens! At the same time, you’ll be making sure that children with disabilities can access virtual culinary education and build confidence from home.

In this family-friendly virtual cooking class, a professional chef will lead you through a homemade pizza recipe, including pizza dough, pizza sauce, and toppings of your choice. The chef will go at your group’s pace and answer questions about the recipe and any ingredient substitutions. The class will be facilitated by an additional staff member from the organization, who will field questions for the chef throughout the class. By the end of the 1-hour session, you’ll have supported your community in a time of need—and made yourself a great meal!

Each participant will need the list of ingredients and cooking supplies listed below. This list is for pizza dough, pizza sauce, and toppings. If recipe alterations are needed for dietary restrictions (for example, a gluten-free cauliflower crust), revised recipes are available upon request.

Children & Families
Revenue will sponsor the cost of two virtual cooking classes for children with disabilities, which the organization provides to families free of charge. These virtual classes provide families with a hands-on, healthy, educational activity, as well as a break from sedentary screen time during cancelled school, activities, and camps.

This organization is committed to helping individuals of all abilities, including those with special needs, strengthen their social and independent living skills through healthy culinary experiences. The organization uses cooking as an opportunity for individuals to increase independence, build relationships, practice fine motor and academic skills, and learn how to eat healthier. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they are focusing on making their important programming accessible virtually.
